Our Ground Rules

Communication Guidelines

Try Not to Take Things Too Personally

Our goal is to keep our time here light-hearted. A bit of banter and friendly teasing is encouraged—it's a great way to build resilience and keep conversations flowing naturally.

Remember, it's okay to recognise emotions without making things too heavy.

No Interruptions

Everyone deserves a chance to speak. Let's make sure we’re not interrupting or talking over each other. Patience keeps the conversation respectful and inclusive.

Engage, Don’t Avoid Conflict

Conflict can happen, and that's okay. We encourage you to engage constructively when disagreements arise. Listen first, ask questions, and try to understand where others are coming from before you respond.

Be Authentic, But Considerate

Honesty is important, but so is kindness. Share your thoughts and experiences using "I" statements, and be mindful of how your words might impact others. Avoid making assumptions or generalisations.

Respectful Communication

Keep it respectful. Open and honest discussions are great, but personal attacks, insults, or demeaning language are not okay. Let's focus on ideas, not individuals.

Privacy Rules

Keep Our Conversations to Yourself

What we share here stays here. We might discuss personal and sensitive topics, so it's crucial to respect everyone's privacy. We've got each other's backs—that's what camaraderie is all about. Breaking confidentiality will lead to group closure and each member will receive a long-term ban.

No Recordings

To protect everyone's privacy, please don't record any part of our conversations.

Safeguarding Guidelines

No Invites Off the Platform

Our aim is to keep the platform a safe and secure space for you, as you navigate through your life. Anonymity is very key to enable this. We are not responsible for any activities you partake in off the platform - nor will our peers ever tell you to conduct activities off the platform.

Any comments raised are based on the context of our calls and how you behave in your calls.

Flag Any Concerns

If something's on your mind or you didn't get to share during a call, reach out to your Echo Peer. They are here to listen and help. If you have concerns about your peer group, let us know, and we'll sort it out together.

Emergency

We are NOT a crisis hotline, we can only point you to services you can contact.

If you or someone else is feeling unsafe, in a crisis or are actively suicidal, please contact emergency helplines such as 999 or Samaritans (116 123).

If you are in an active crisis on call, we will have to remove other callers from your group and speak directly to you. We will then ask for your contact details and require you to provide them, as per our duty of care policy.

 Illegal Activities are not Allowed

Let's keep it legal and respectful. Activities like harassment, promoting violence, or any form of abuse have no place here. We are all about supporting each other in a positive way.
