Our Listeners
Importantly, they are men that have been through what you’ve been through.
Every Listener has trained under programs ranging from Samaritans to CPD and specialist accredited programs focused on harmful relationships.
Our Listener’s are not therapists or helpline volunteers; we are not a clinic or an emergency helpline.
They are experts in real-time de-escalation, conflict resolution, and know how to walk you through tough topics.
Listeners vs. Therapists or Helpline Centres
We do not label you with a diagnosis, we just talk things through with you
Unlike a quick call to helplines, you can return to your Listener, building trust over time
Our Listeners share a similar experience to you, unlike most therapists
What Echo Listeners can and can’t do
Our Listeners DO:
Let you talk, and reflect emotions back.
Make sure everyone’s voice is heard in group calls, ensure confidentiality and respect.
Respect you as a man with agency.
Our Listeners DO NOT:
Shame you for feeling stuck or unsure.
Give mental health diagnoses nor advice.
Provide suicide hotline or emergency mental health services.
By not diagnosing or prescribing, our Listeners keep the focus on your experience, and the changes you want to make - not a textbook.
